Flashback 30 years. At the Golden Planet Awards in Los Angeles, Thaddeus (Ennis Stussy) runs into Howard Zimmerman, who orders him a drink and offers to make his book into a movie.

Thaddeus attends casting screen tests.

Thaddeus finances the film production with his book royalties. He falls for the leading lady, and he starts using drugs.

Gloria arrives at her destination and searches the parking lot for her rented vehicle. Stuck in traffic, she looks over her stepfather's file.

Gloria eats pie at a diner, where she talks to Vivian Lord about her murdered stepfather's LA life in the '70s.
