Jessie plays the new song she wrote over FaceTime for Deacon after his encouragemeant; Gunnar drives though Aurora, Texas; Jessie records in the studio, Deacon watches.

Jessie arrives late for her meeting with Deacon, she tells him about her ex, Brad, cancelling her plans with thier son then tells him be meaning behind 'Coat of Pain'; Deacon offers to help Jessie record the song but she refuses the offer.

Delta Rae records in the studio with Jessie's friend Sam, she and Deacon discuss what she would have done with Jake if she had visit with him then Sam apologise whem the group wants to go again.

(Flashback) A young Jason and Gunnar rock out in their room when their grandmother comes to tell them to quet down.

Gunnar sings the song to his grandmother before he leaves town. A montage featuring the other characters is shown while the song plays.
