Pudge and The Colonel search the Internet for information about the warning signs of suicide and whether they apply to Alaska.

The Colonel drinks until his blood alcohol level matches Alaska’s on the night she died. Pudge and Takumi monitor him with a breathalyzer stolen from The Eagle’s house.

Home for Christmas, Miles hangs out in his family’s swimming pool. The Colonel helps his mother in her store.

Miles sits down to read Alaska’s copy of “The General In His Labyrinth”. The Colonel closes up his mother’s store and is surprised by the arrival of Dr. Hyde.

The Colonel, Miles, Takumi begin a plan to pull of the Alaska Memorial Prank on Culver Creek’s Speaker Day.

Gus, the liquor store clerk, impersonates a visiting professor of teenage sexuality as part of the Prank. He begins to do a striptease when the music starts. All of the male students join in.

Miles reveals his thoughts on Alaska and her question about the labyrinth in a voice over as he and The Colonel drive to the spot where she died.
