Henry breaks up with Charlie; Charlie agrees to have his heart transplant surgery; Marie explains what caused the rift between her and Ellis then gives Meredith a life changing decision to make.

Alex, Maggie and Jo run into complications during Charlie's transplant; Charlie's mother cries in the waitroom; AFIb is tried on Charlie new heart and it begins beating after a while.

Maggie tells Jackson how undone she becomes around him then he confesses the same, she agrees to a date with him; Jo proposes to Alex.

(Flashback) Alex arrives at a house party and overhears his girlfriend, Laura, telling the story of his mother having a manic episode then calling her crazy.
