At the Raven hotel, Poe and Elliot argue about Lizzie. Elliot tries to bring Kovacs in the conversation but he storms off, followed by Ortega, holding his enemy’s severed head.

Kovacs & Miriam go into Bancroft’s study; she offers him a drink and tries to talk him out of the deal.

At the contagion zone/refugee camp greeting the people living there; Bancroft explains to Kovacs how he became who he is.

Kovacs returns to The Raven and joins Elliot for a drink, until they are interrupted by Abboud's arrival. Poe brings Kovacs good news.

Kovacs drops by the Bancroft residence, where Miriam attempts to convince Kovacs into dropping Laurens' case.
